Pantry De-Clutter and Organizing

I had the opportunity to work with this amazing client and we completely re-designed her pantry space. Check out these before pictures:

We started by pulling out all of the food as we did, anything that was expired and no longer good was thrown away in the trash. Each item was then sorted in the categories. This looks different for each household as everyone has different tastes and routines when it comes to food. In this case, we sorted pastas together, snacks, cookies, chips, cooking sides, baking items etc.

My client's husband had already built her this incredible space with a butcher block counter and the idea was to be able to keep the butcher block space free to be able to see the gorgeousness of the wood. When the pantry was empty, all the shelves were wipes down and the measuring began!

I then got to work creating a to scale drawing of how her pantry could work for her with products that will fit. I first used items she had already that would complement the space. I love that products have dimensions listed online because I can input them into my drawing to see how they will fit the space. It's a little blurry:

Once complete, I sent the drawing to my client so we can get approval and order the products!

Products I recommend:

Putting everything pack together is the very best part where we get to create labels, create systems that work, ensure we know that everything has a space, and then ensure proper communication happens with the rest of the household. In this case, for overflow items, we have larger black baskets above the smaller individual baskets to collect extra items to flow into the smaller baskets as items get used.

Have you ever organized a space and a family member comes and creates chaos? Communication is key to maintaining a space! Labels are a way to communicate without actually saying anything out loud. If I have a family member who does something to "un-organize" my space, before I get frustrated, I ask myself if I actually communicated to them how I would like them to participate in keeping things under control. This takes work!

Keep in mind, while these after pictures look beautiful, life is also constantly happening. Give yourself and your family grace as you flow into new routines into maintaining the space.
